NASSAU, Bahamas – The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation (BMOTIA) welcomes the launch of Porter Airlines' new nonstop service between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), strengthening direct air connectivity between the capital of Canada and the capital of The Bahamas.
The new weekly nonstop flight, which begins December 13, is part of Porter Airlines' expanded winter schedule and provides travellers from the National Capital Region with seamless access to Nassau. The service is operated using Porter's 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, offering an elevated onboard experience with no middle seats, complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, premium Canadian snacks, and free high-speed WiFi.
“We are proud to welcome Porter's second inaugural flight from Ottawa to Nassau. This expanded service makes it easier than ever for Canadians to experience the beauty and culture of The Bahamas, while strengthening the connections that support tourism, business, and enduring partnerships between our nations,” said the Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation.
The Ottawa–Nassau route represents a strategic enhancement to The Bahamas' Canadian airlift portfolio, increasing convenience and accessibility for leisure travellers while supporting continued growth in visitation from a key source market.
“The addition of nonstop service from Ottawa to Nassau represents a meaningful expansion of our Canadian airlift,” said Latia Duncombe, Director General, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation. “Expanded access improves connectivity, responds to strong traveller demand, and supports our broader strategy to drive sustained visitation, longer stays, and economic impact for The Bahamas.”
Porter Airlines' expanded service underscores growing demand from Canadian travellers for direct access to Nassau and reinforces the airline's commitment to providing high-quality, convenient travel options. The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation looks forward to continued collaboration with airline and airport partners to ensure the long-term success of this route and further to strengthen tourism ties between Canada and The Bahamas.
