MIAMI RANKED THE THIRD MOST TRENDING DESTINATION IN 2024 BY GOOGLE

"Greater Miami and Miami Beach Top of Mind for Travelers Ahead of Hosting the 2025 College Football Playoff Semifinal at Hard Rock Stadium"

MIAMI, FL January 9, 2025 — Google's annual Year in Search report ranks Miami as the third most trending travel destination in the world for 2024, with Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens,  the venue for this week's Capital One Orange Bowl, earning recognition as the fifth most Googled stadium in the United States. This accolade reinforces Greater Miami's position as a premier global destination, especially as it takes center stage for the 2025 College Football Playoff Semifinal.

“Great destination reputations and brands are curated by the level of interest, excitement and awareness generated,” said David Whitaker, President & CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. “To be among the most searched destinations globally - especially as a vacation, resort, and event destination – reinforces Miami's position as a premier hub for world-class entertainment and unforgettable experiences.  It also underscores the destination's growing appeal as a place to relocate to and invest in."

Whitaker added, “To achieve this ranking in 2024 signals not only what a great year that was, but what a momentous 2025 awaits, starting with hosting the Capital One Orange Bowl at the iconic Hard Rock Stadium.”

This week, Miami takes the national spotlight as host to the 2025 Capital One Orange Bowl, featuring two legendary programs, Notre Dame University and Penn State University – kicking off at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on January 9th. As a College Football Playoff Semifinal, the Orange Bowl will attract fans, alumni, and media from across the country. The stadium's ranking as one of the most Googled venues highlights its prominence as a premier location for world-class events, from Super Bowls, The Miami Open and international soccer matches including The FIFA Club World Cup to concerts and the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.

Miami's ability to host events of this magnitude reinforces its global reputation as a leading destination for sports, entertainment, and leisure. Hard Rock Stadium, which will also serve as a venue for the FIFA World Cup in 2026, continues to draw international attention, amplifying Miami's position on the world stage.

This recognition as a trending destination did not happen overnight. Greater Miami's rise as a global hotspot is the result of years of investment in its cultural, culinary, sports, entertainment, and hospitality sectors. The destination is now home to 14 Michelin-starred restaurants, including Florida's only two-star Michelin restaurant. These culinary accolades highlight Miami's evolution into a premier gastronomic hub, attracting food enthusiasts from around the world.

Miami's diverse offerings continue to attract travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure. Key factors contributing to this recognition include:

  • World-Class Culture and Entertainment: Home to Art Basel Miami Beach, the Art of Black Miami program, the 2024 Latin GRAMMYs, the Rainbow Spring LGBTQ Program, and year-round events celebrating art, culture, and the destination's multicultural roots.
  • Culinary Excellence: In addition to the Michelin designations, renowned dining programs such as Miami Spice highlight the destination's culinary scene, blending flavors from across the globe.
  • Natural Beauty: From the turquoise waters of Biscayne Bay to the lush landscapes of the Everglades, Miami's natural attractions remain a cornerstone of its appeal.
  • Expanding Luxury Offerings: New hotel openings and enhanced luxury experiences continue to draw high-profile visitors.
  • Global Meetings and Conventions: Beyond sports and leisure, Greater Miami and Miami Beach is also a global hub for major meetings and The Miami Beach Convention Center continues to attract high-profile events, including the Adobe MAX conference in 2024, which brought creative professionals and innovators from around the world to experience Miami's unique blend of business and inspiration.
