The MEISSEN Amazon Collection

Make the world a better place

With the new 'The MEISSEN Amazon Collection', MEISSEN brings the extraordinary beauty of the Amazon to life in and on 'white gold', showcasing the entire artistic expertise of the manufactory. The diverse biodiversity shines on an exclusive floor vase, three large-format murals that can be combined to form a triptych and five MEISSEN mugs with handles. Under the title 'Make the world a better place', 10% of the proceeds from MEISSEN Amazon art products will be donated to EKOSFERA and with every purchase of a MEISSEN Mug 'Amazon', a donation will be made to projects that support the preservation of the rainforest.

Exclusive collection, Amazon vase
The largest rainforest, the most biodiverse savannah, the river with the most water: Amazonia - a region of superlatives. Under the motto 'Make the world a better place', the large vessel vase by Chinese artist Zhuoyu Hou served as the perfect stage for MEISSEN designer Lena Hensel to bring this exotic natural spectacle to life. The Meissen porcelain painters Heike Wuttke and Michaela Hummitzsch enveloped the vase in the fascinating world of the dense, tropical rainforest. Iconic animals such as the hyacinth macaw, the yolk toucan and the bearded emperor moustached tamarin were brought to life using intense colours, a naturalistic painting style and a variety of highly elaborate painting techniques. The outstanding size of the vase also posed a challenge in terms of craftsmanship for the employees in the white production department. At 90 cm, it is the maximum that the manufactory workers can realise in the decor kiln.

Exclusive collection, Amazon wall murals
The impressive murals in the 'Exclusive Collection are an artistic journey into the deep green of the rainforest. Fascinating motifs from the Brazilian Amazon have been combined to create a true masterpiece. Two large specimens of the hyacinth macaw dominate the scene in the first mural amidst the countless shades of green of the rainforest. Framed by exotic plants, the second mural presents the bearded emperor moustached tamarin. Two large yolk toucans dominate the scene against a spectacular evening sky in various shades of purple and violet.

Bird figurines
At the beginning of the 20th century, animal sculpture experienced a renaissance in MEISSEN porcelain. Renowned animal sculptors such as Georg Pilz, Otto Jarl and August Gaul, followed by the manufactory's own geniuses such as Paul Walther, created masterpieces of naturalistic animal sculpture for the MEISSEN manufactory. Exclusively for the 'Make the world a better place' project, the pepper-eater bird figurine was given a new staffage, which is unsurpassed in its dazzling colour. Other exotic animal figurines such as the parrot, macaw and panther adorn the new 'The Amazon Collection' from MEISSEN.

The MEISSEN Mugs „Amazon“
The unique mugs are the perfect companion for a short exotic break in the Amazon and feature lifelike reproductions of the flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest. Taking social responsibility for our planet is a matter close to MEISSEN's heart. Together with EKOSFERA, MEISSEN wants to make a positive contribution to saving the Amazon with the sustainable MEISSEN mugs 'Amazon'. With every purchase of a MEISSEN 'Amazon' mug, a donation is made to projects that support the preservation of the rainforest. This offsets a person's CO2 footprint for three months. This is verified after purchase with an exclusive certificate.

This is how it works:
1. You buy a MEISSEN Mug 'Amazon'
2. You can download your EKOSFERA certificate online for your conscious consumption.
3. the carbon credits you receive neutralise part of your CO2 footprint
4. EKOSFERA supports projects for the conservation of the Amazon and this special habitat
MEISSEN wants to draw attention to the threat to the green lungs of our planet and the many endangered animal species and is cooperating with EKOSFERA as part of 'The MEISSEN Amazon Collection', which is committed to preserving the valuable ecosystem of the Amazon rainforest through various projects.
