The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum will reopen its doors this spring following a transformative $89 million renovation. The first major update to the museum in nearly 40 years, the overhaul will introduce a new, immersive experience for racing fans, history enthusiasts, and visitors of all ages.

The renovation will add a 6,000-square-foot mezzanine level featuring interactive exhibits and educational experiences designed to engage guests in the rich history and excitement of the world-renowned Indy 500 and motorsports.

The redesigned museum will offer:

  • Seven permanent galleries showcasing the history and legacy of the Indy 500, with dynamic displays and hands-on experiences.
  • Three rotating galleries hosting traveling exhibits, offering fresh content for repeat visitors.
  • A behind-the-scenes tour, available to book, allowing guests to get up close to some of the world's most unique and valuable racing artifacts.
  • Interactive experiences, including the chance to feel the thrill of being in an IndyCar with a high-tech racing simulator.
  • A pit stop competition where visitors can learn the tools and techniques of professional racing teams by participating in their own pit stop challenge.

In addition to the new galleries and exhibits, the museum will offer expanded event space for race-themed meetings, receptions, and corporate events.
