As Inntravel (inntravel.co.uk) celebrates its milestone 40th anniversary this month (December 2024), the tour operator has uncovered a selection of fascinating new adventures to include within its 2025 programme of 285 self-guided holidays. Just as it was at the outset, Inntravel's focus remains on a sustainable, immersive form of travel which embraces local food and culture, along with welcoming, privately-owned hotels, in scenic corners of the UK and Europe, that benefit local communities.
Among the new holidays for the year ahead are those in the Pyrenees, on Normandy's D-Day beaches, along St. Francis' Way in Umbria, and in Spain's Aracena Sierra, Madeira and Tuscany.
NEW FOR 2025
A Stroll in the Pyrenees – single centre-based walking
Customers can be forgiven for thinking that this holiday is something of a misnomer. The Pyrenees are the ultimate walking destination, with thrilling routes that reveal high peaks, traditional stone villages, and a wide variety of flora and fauna. Yet this new single-centre holiday in the Spanish Pyrenees offers a different take on this unspoiled region – foregoing taxing hikes in favour of gentle but wonderfully rewarding strolls on mountain paths, drovers' roads and meadows. It is one in a series of special Inntravel Strolls to mountainous regions that are proving particularly popular with customers. Several day walks are accessed by the dramatic rack railway up to Nuria where, at 1,960m above sea level and surrounded by high peaks, the Sanctuary of Núria is one of Catalonia's holiest and most remarkable sites. Throughout, guests stay in a boutique, family-run spa hotel, with an outdoor pool and unparalleled vistas, that serves delicious authentic Catalan dishes – with Catalonia having officially scooped the title of World Region of Gastronomy in 2025.

Walk Normandy's D-Day Beaches – hotel-to-hotel walking
With next year being the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII and a new four day holiday weekend just announced, 2025 is a fitting year to trace the remarkable legacy of Operation Overlord, the largest amphibious invasion of all time, on a self-guided hotel-to hotel walking holiday with Inntravel. The new holiday takes in Normandy's D-Day Beaches, among the coastline's many other poignant sites. As well as visiting all five landing beaches, including lesser-visited Utah Beach, and as many museums and landmarks as visitors wish, this soul-stirring route features gorgeous countryside, picture-book towns and four very special places to stay. Add to that a delicious cuisine, featuring creamy sauces laced with cider or calvados, oozing cheeses, and the freshest seafood around. The final stop takes walkers further back in time to the 11th Century, to medieval Bayeux – home of the Tapestry, which avoided much of the damage following the D-Day Landings.
Price: from £1,595pp based on 2 sharing inc. 7 nights' B&B, 2 dinners, luggage transfers, route notes and maps, and GPS navigation. Or travel by Eurostar and rail (with good connections) from £1,865 or self-drive from £1,715. Available 1 April - 30 Nov 2025.
Along St Francis' Way through Umbria - hotel-to-hotel walking
Discover gently rolling Umbria while walking from Assisi, the home of St. Francis, to Spoleto along scenic stretches of the St Francis' Way. 2025 is a special year for modern pilgrims visiting Italy, as it is celebrated by the Catholic Church as a Jubilee Year (Holy Year). Inntravel's picturesque pilgrimage traces the passage of the patron saint of Italy and a spiritual landscape of fresco-filled churches, secret hermitages, and wayside chapels veiled by cypresses. While following in the footsteps of St. Francis between olive groves, woodland, and vineyards, walkers explore the celebrated towns of Assisi and Spoleto but also some unpretentious hill-top centres that promise a different experience entirely. They include Spello, Montefalco, Bevagna, and Collepino – each steeped in history and traditional culture yet with a vibrant local life. Along with Inntravel's four excellent hotels, they make the perfect accompaniment to a week's self-guided hotel-to-hotel walking.
Price: from £1,190pp based on 2 sharing, inc. 7 nights' B&B, 2 dinners, luggage transfers, route notes and maps, GPS navigation, two transfers on days 4 & 5. Easy access via Rome. Available 1 April - 31 Oct 2025.
Walking in Aracena Sierra - hotel-to-hotel walking
In a quiet corner of northwest Andalucia, follow ancient trails between timeless villages to discover the unspoiled Aracena Sierra where black pigs roam free in cork oak and chestnut forests. Embrace traditional Andalucian life in some of Spain's most picturesque villages, with their maze of cobbled streets and castle ruins, and a mosque which provides a striking reminder of the centuries of conflict played out in this former border country. Walking over six panoramic days, the trails are leisurely, the accommodation excellent, and the cuisine is among Spain's finest – particularly the mouthwatering Jamón Ibérico. Guests get to stay in characterful and authentic accommodation with terrific hosting in some of Spain's prettiest pueblos blancos. Don't miss the Gruta de las Maravillas – a hidden fantasy world of limestone grottoes and subterranean lakes.
Price: from £955pp based on 2 sharing inc. 7 nights' B&B, 1 dinner, 2 picnics, luggage transfers, route notes and maps, GPS navigation, and taxi transfers from/to Seville airport. Available: 1 March - 30 Nov 2025.
Funchal & the Island of Madeira – single centre-based walking
Madeira's abundance of subtropical landscapes are a magnetic pull for walkers and nature enthusiasts year-round. It's an island where nature reigns supreme. On this flexible single-centre walking holiday, guests can choose between classic and lesser-known routes, accessed by the included car hire, such as the island's Levada walks, an ancient network of waterways carved through misty forests, jungle, and UNESCO-listed laurel forest. Guests stay in or near the capital of Funchal – choosing between a traditional quinta, an historic hotel, or a former hunting lodge turned 5-star hotel. Everything is enhanced by a delightful eternal-spring climate, the chance to dip into traditional wine lodges, and sample a cuisine that reflects the island's rich heritage.
Price: from £1,305pp based on 2 sharing inc. 7 nights' B&B, 3 dinners, route notes and maps, GPS navigation and 7 days' car hire. Available 1 Jan - 31 Dec 2025.
Pisa to Florence – hotel-to-hotel cycling in Tuscany
Italy is Inntravel's most popular destination for both walking and cycling. Experience classic Tuscany – its great art cities and glorious countryside – on this new self-guided cycling holiday from Pisa to Florence, riding on relaxed routes away from Tuscany's hillier terrain. The leisurely rides from hotel-to-hotel leave plenty of time for exploring out of the saddle and for relaxing at the superb handpicked accommodation – a mix of historic 4-star city hotels and a family-run agriturismo amid its own olive groves and vineyards. Many of Tuscany's most celebrated sights can be savoured on this trip, from Pisa's Leaning Tower to the renowned Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi gallery of Florence. But there are lesser-known highlights, too: a stay in beautiful Lucca, where the chance to ride on the city's towering Renaissance ramparts is very special; as well as in the unspoiled medieval town of Vinci, named for its famous son, Leonardo.
Price: from £1,795pp based on 2 sharing, inc. 7 nights' B&B, 1 dinner, bike hire, luggage transfers, route notes and maps, and GPS navigation. Electric bikes are available as an upgrade. Available 1 April - 31 October 2025.
