Havila Voyages was nominated in several categories at the Wave Awards, where they ultimately received the "Best Cuisine" award for their food concept. The award acknowledges the company's efforts to provide a unique and sustainable dining experience inspired by Norway's rich nature and traditions, and the company sets the standard for quality in food and service within the travel and cruise industry.
Christian Gamsgrø, Chief Hotel and Commercial Development Officer at Havila Voyages, expressed pride after the award ceremony.
"Receiving the 'Best Cuisine' award is a great honor for us. It confirms our commitment to quality and sustainability in everything we do. We want to offer our guests a culinary experience that not only reminds them of Norway's beautiful coast but also supports local producers and sustainable practices," said Gamsgrø.
Havila Voyages has focused on creating a food concept that highlights local ingredients and traditional recipes while accommodating modern dietary preferences.
"Our philosophy is simple: good food should be both delicious and sustainable, with a strong focus on reducing food waste. This award is a recognition of the efforts of our entire team, from chefs to waitstaff and those onshore, who work daily to provide our guests with an unforgettable experience," Gamsgrø continued.
In addition, Havila Voyages received the "Highly Commended" accolade in the Best Specialist Cruise category, behind Unforgettable Croatia, which won the award in this category. Norway also took home the title of "Best Cruise Destination."
"It's hard to disagree that Norway is the world's best destination, and we are happy to have the opportunity to showcase the best of Norway to our guests," said CEO Bent Martini of Havila Voyages.
"And not least, we are incredibly proud to have received the award for 'Best Cuisine' and to be 'Highly Commended' in the Best Specialist Cruise category, despite being a relatively new company in the cruise industry. This is proof that our commitment to sustainability and quality in the product we deliver to our customers is being noticed. It motivates us to continue providing a unique experience to our guests. We look forward to further developing and sharing the fantastic flavors and experiences that Norway's coast has to offer," he concluded.
The Wave Awards are held annually in London and are considered the Oscars of the cruise industry. This year marked the 10th edition of the awards, with a jury of experts, industry representatives, and editors selecting the winners in each category.
