Southern Ocean Lodge Wins a Swag of Prestigious Awards

Just six months after reopening in December 2023 following her four-year rebuild, Southern Ocean Lodge has already made some impressive achievements, having welcomed more than 2300 guests to the 25-suite property and winning a slew of prestigious travel awards.

Included in the awards line-up to date are:

  • Town & Country Magazine: The Best New Hotels on the Planet 2024
  • AFAR Magazine: Best New Hotels of 2024
  • Travel + Leisure: 2024 It List of Best New Hotels
  • Condé Nast Traveler: Best New Hotels in the World 2024 Hot List

Next up, Southern Ocean Lodge has been named a finalist in the 'resort' category of the Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards 2024 with voting now underway.

Baillie Lodges Chief Operating Officer Craig Bradbery said the award wins were a testament to the team at Southern Ocean Lodge who continued to warmly welcome guests from Australia and overseas as they would to their own luxurious ocean-front holiday home.

“Having lost Southern Ocean Lodge to the wildfires of 2020 and then embarking on an extensive rebuild, we feel very grateful to be back – and to have had the overwhelming support and welcome over these past months from guests, the travel industry and media around the world,” Mr Bradbery said.

“We've had an incredible chance to recreate Southern Ocean Lodge, retaining all the elements best loved by guests and adding some new features to take her to a next generation traveller and a sustainable future,” he said.
